Dots per inch or dpi: Lasers range from 600-1200 dpi. The higher this number, the higher the quality of print.
Pages per minute or Ppm: Lasers range from 6-17 Ppm. The faster the better.
Monochrome or color: The monochrome laser is more common. Color lasers are still very expensive and cost much to operate.
Fonts: Most lasers come with built-in fonts. You should check on how many. The more the better.
RAM: The more the better where the laser is concerned. This will determine how many fonts your laser can print as well as the number and size of graphics.
Printer description language: Most laser printers support HP-PCL by Hewlett Packard. Others support PostScript. While most laser printers support both, they usually only provide you with one. You usually have to buy an upgrade to get the second language. HP-PCL is usually fine, unless you need more control over your font size. Then you should add Postscript.
